‘Tōtōkau’ - Māori word for plain, unadorned.
(Pronunciation: ‘Toto’ - tore, tore ( past tense of tear) ‘Kau’ - Emphasis on the hard ‘K’. Say it to rhyme with sew.)
Because these instruments take less time to make they can be offered at lower prices than their dressed-up siblings. As a maker, I appreciate being able to focus on what ultimately matters — playability and build quality.
