Dream Flute
5 holes rather than the usual 6 makes the flute easier to play as no cross-fingerings are required. Almost any combination of notes will sound musical.
The perfect choice for beginners.
This is our lowest priced model, built to the same high standards and covered by our guarantee.
Available in the low F# and in the A above. (If uncertain, I suggest the F# )
Centered tuning holes.
Standard tuning or 432hz
There may be a shiny metal disc or two on the finished flute, about 3mm in diameter. These mark nail holes from the wood's previous career that have been cleaned up and filled with brass. Beautified scars.
Please note that these are hand made. Each is an individual; your flute will be similar but not identical to the pictures shown here.
Dream flutes are made from native rimu. This beautiful timber was used extensively by Maori, and in the 20th century was commonly used in construction. Conservation measures have reduced the milling of these trees to almost zero. Available stock is now reclaimed from old buildings. The wood we use at Nyx is heart rimu that came from a house near to the workshop. It is around 60 years old.
